The Wallow Fire:  A view from the Temple....Just as we got home our friend, Kevin, called.  He has three horses at his home in Springerville and is worried about having a place for them if Springerville and Eager are evacuated because of the smoke generated by the fire just a few miles away.  Grandpa just told him that we would come over and get them--it will be one less thing to worry about in this devastating situation.  So we jumped in the truck and headed over.  About every other vehicle coming on the highway was a pick-up with a horse trailer hauling animals out--people just trying to be prepared.

 Just a few miles later, another plumb pops up under the first one that is starting to collapse...

 Just a few miles more and the smaller one collapses...Grandpa says that when these hot spots create plumbs and then they collapse - they create their own weather...they fall and create terrible winds that sent sparks flying miles away - and those sparks start other fires...a vicious circle.

 About 16 miles outside of Springerville...this is about the time we started smelling the smoke...

 These lovely girls look pretty content.  Swishing their tails for each other.  The little one in front is "Leftie", the white one in the middle is "Thunder" and the black one standing behind is "Poncho."  "Leftie" and "Thunder" have colts coming in August.  Perhaps they will get to go home in just a few days--we pray- Friday, the fire was at 100,000 acres and Saturday it had grown to 140,000.00 - but this morning it is at 150,000 acres --Please, Mother Nature, be NICE!!!

 We must have some nice juicy worms in the grass--we have lots of robins this year...
