This is the program from Grandpa's Mission President's Funeral Service that we attended while in Utah. It was a very nice occassion. Sister Stucki was very sweet with "her" missionaries. She invited them to come in with the family for the prayer and then wanted them to enter the chapel before the family and sit in the choir seats. They all sang the Mission Song that President Stucki had written the lyrics for. The first verse was sung to the tune of "Stout Hearted Men" and the second verse to "The Sound of Music." Each and every one of the speakers mentioned the men seated in the choir seats for one thing or another. There was a place in the chapel reserved for the wives of the missionaries and we got to visiting about how special it was that there was still such a strong connection between the family and the men who had served with them in the Mission Field. President Stucki was a very dynamic man and Sister Stucki is a treasure...They were very young and ambitious in the Mission Field. (Pres. was only 41 years old when called as the President of the Northwestern States Mission. - The name was changed to the Oregon Mission during his service.) Grandpa sometimes says that he was called to a mission that didn't exist by a Prophet who had died. A memorable experience! (click on the picture to enlarge)
